OUR PURPOSE
The Christian Education Program at The First Congregational Church,
Canton Center, has as its purpose the following:
- To lead all members and friends into an increasing knowledge and
fellowship with God
- To develop in our people personal character which shall be genuinely
Christian in our relationships
- To develop in our
members and friends interest and knowledge regarding the Christian Church’s
whole life – past, present, and future – here in Canton Center and elsewhere in
the world;
- To increase the desire and ability of all to
participate in the life and work of this church.

- Church School offering
envelopes are available to encourage young stewardship.
- Please
feel free to express interest in what your child(ren) are learning in worship
and class by asking questions of them, teachers, or any members of the Christian
Education Committee.
PLEASE ABIDE BY THE FOLLOWING
- Help
maintain wellness among our tots by keeping sick children at
home.
- Children in Grade 3 and younger must be escorted to and picked up from class by
an adult.
- Please wait for classes to conclude before picking up
your child.
- Please supervise your child(ren) at all times when
they are not in class.
OUR PROGRAM
- Nursery:
Care for
infants and toddlers (under age 3 only) during all worship services.
- Church School:
Religious education for three-year olds through
Grade 8, Sunday mornings, 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. (or 11:10 A.M.) mid-September
through July.
Grades 2-5 participate in a Workshop Rotation Model.
Rotation
Model is based on Howard Gardner’s Theory of Multiple Intelligences and teaches
the Bible stories through kid-friendly multimedia workshops such as Arts and
Crafts, Music and Movement, Storytelling, Drama, Games, Cooking and more.
Pre-school, grades K-1 and 6-8 meet in a traditional style classroom.
- Confirmation Class:
For ninth graders as preparation for church
membership.
- Youth Fellowships:
Junior Youth (Gr. 6-8) and
Senior Youth (Gr. 9-12)

Bible Study, holiday celebrations,
all-church retreat and adult discussion are some programs offered under various
leadership.
