The Senior Choir leads the church in the singing of hymns at worship services and also performs choir-only special selections (anthems) and accompanied solos. Anthems can be heard at every worship service, including special services, from the first week in September until Father’s Day in June at which time the Summer Sunday Soloist program starts with vocalists and instrumentalists soloing on Sundays during the summer.
From late August until early June, the Senior Choir rehearses every Monday at 7:00 p.m. They sing choral music written by some of the best arrangers and composers including sacred, classical, folk and some contemporary. Special events include singing in the annual Thanksgiving Ecumenical Service with the seven area churches massed choir, the annual Ceremony of Lessons and Carols that usually takes place on the Sunday before Christmas and also known as Music Sunday, and since 1996 the annual Palm Sunday cantata which has often been accompanied by a Baroque orchestra.
