PRELUDE              A Thousand Storms (Frombach/sorenson); Mary Lou Keefe, piano

Holy One, as we gather once more in your Spirit,
we seek the renewing of our own spirits –
our private hearts and our common heart,
our own worlds and our shared world.
Help us to overcome all that divides and frightens,
all that ruptures your beloved creation.
Help us to be the people who bear your light,
      who trust your grace,
who will be your hands and feet and voice in this world.
This we ask in Jesus’ name and spirit, as we also say together:

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts,
as we forgive our debtors.  And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.  For thine is the kingdom and the power
and the glory forever.  Amen.

READING FROM SCRIPTURE          Psalm 86:1-10 The Common English Bible

Lord, listen closely to me and answer me,
because I am poor and in need.
Guard my life because I am faithful.
Save your servant who trusts in you—you! My God!
Have mercy on me, Lord,
because I cry out to you all day long.
Make your servant’s life[a] happy again
because, my Lord, I offer my life to you,
because, my Lord, you are good and forgiving,
full of faithful love for all those who cry out to you.
Listen closely to my prayer, Lord;
pay close attention to the sound of my requests for mercy.
Whenever I am in trouble, I cry out to you,
    because you will answer me.
My Lord! There is no one like you among the gods!
There is nothing that can compare to your works!
All the nations that you’ve made will come
        and bow down before you, Lord;
    they will glorify your name,
10     because you are awesome
    and a wonder-worker.
        You are God. Just you.

HYMN                        Here I Am Lord        (Sung by Jennifer DeFusco and Jerry Alonzy)

I, the Lord of sea and sky, I have heard my people cry.
All who dwell in deepest sin my hand will save.
I, who made the stars of night, I will make their darkness bright.
Who will bear my light to them?  Whom shall I send?

Refrain:   Here I am, Lord.  Is it I, Lord?
I have heard you calling in the nigt.
I will go, Lord, if you lead me.
I will hold your people in my heart.

I, the Lord of snow and rain, I have heard my people’s pain.
I have wept for love of them, they turn away.
I will break their hearts of stone, give them hearts for love alone.
I will speak my word to them.  Whom shall I send?

                                       Repeat refrain

I, the Lord of wind and flame, I will tend the poor and lame.
I will set a feast for them, my hand will save.
Finest bread I will provide, till their hearts be satisfied.
I will give my life to them.  Whom shall I send?

                                     Repeat refrain
